Next Chapter | Life as an entrepreneur

February 2017 was the month I left my career in public relations. For some who may have just found me, I worked in the public relations industry for twelve years. In November of 2016, I had my first child (technically third when including my two amazing bonus kids 🙂 ) and as my maternity leave was coming to an end I (along with the encouragement and support of my husband) made the decision to stay home with our youngest son. Although there are some tough days that I find myself wishing I was in an office, I’m so so glad I made that decision.

See although I went to school for public relations, photography was always a huge passion. I have always loved capturing memories of and with my friends and family. For Christmas 2014 my husband (then boyfriend, soon-to-be fiancĂ©) gave me a camera to give me a little push, because he knew how much I loved photography. I don’t know why but I was so hesitant at the time. I think was I just scared…that I wouldn’t be good and of just plain failure. But doing photography full time meant I would be able to pursue what I love to do but also have the flexibility to be able to stay home with our littlest love. And I’d also be able to apply what I have learned throughout my PR career.

Soooo…fast forward to September 2017 after having several conversations with my husband, I decided to throw fear aside and jump all in and start to build my business. It’s slowly starting to take off and I have loved every minute of it! And you know, it feels so darn good to do something you love, with those you love supporting you, and being able to be home with those you love. I even signed my first wedding!!! I am so excited to see what this year has in store. And I mean, who wouldn’t want to stay home with this cute, big brown eyed, crusty nose, smirk mouth little boy?! I look forward to working with you and capturing you and those you love! xo
